Our Projects

Luzon

iMSAFE Project
Inauguration of the Floating Evacuation Center

In partnership with AWO International, CONCERN has implemented the Innovation in Masantol Shelter Against Flood and Emergencies (iMSAFE) Project. The residents of Masantol have built three (3) floating evacuation centers and floating organic vegetable gardens, benefiting 160 families living in perennially-flooded areas. The project began in 2018 and was completed last June 2019.

Floating Garden Innovation Project

The Center for Emergency Aid and Rehabilitation, Inc. (CONCERN) works with the community champion of innovation – the Pampanga Coastal Emergency Response (PCER) in developing floating gardens as sustainable and resilient alternative food sources for Masantol households.

The floating garden features plastic containers securely tied to support a 16 sqm. plot of water lily-fertilized soil bedding for a variety of vegetables such as string beans, okra, tomato and eggplant.

The project was funded by the TUKLAS Innovation Lab of the START Network, Plan International, Action Against Hunger, CARE Philippines, Citizens’ Disaster Response Center.

Typhoon Ondoy and Pepeng Early Recovery Project

In partnership with the Center for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI), funded by Canada International Development Agency (CIDA), CONCERN has implemented the Typhoon Ondoy and Pepeng Early Recovery Project in 2010.

Visayas

Tukod: Haiyan Reconstruction Project
Women-led micro-enterprises supported by Tukod showcase their products in the Bahandi Eastern Visayas Trade Fair in Metro Manila

Tukod, coined from the Visayan and Tagalog word for support, is funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), in partnership with the Center for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI), and the Center for Emergency Aid and Rehabilitation, Inc. (CONCERN). The project aims to provide sustainable economic growth for women and men affected by Typhoon Haiyan in Eastern Visayas. The project began in September 2015 and was officially launched in April 2016. Tukod has been completed in June 2019.

Typhoon Haiyan Early Recovery Project

In partnership with the Center for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI), funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), CONCERN has implemented the Typhoon Haiyan Early Recovery Project in 2014.

Typhoon Hagupit Early Recovery Project

In partnership with the Center for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI), funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), CONCERN has implemented the Typhoon Hagupit Early Recovery Project in 2015. The project supported 3,258 families and built 312 temporary shelters for heavily-affected families.

Bohol Earthquake Early Recovery Project

In partnership with the Center for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI), funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), CONCERN has implemented the Bohol Earthquake Early Recovery Project in 2013.

Mindanao

Marawi Capability-Building Project

CONCERN Inc. is currently implementing a short-term project in partnership with Reclaiming Marawi Movement with the support of UNDP Bangkok and NPeace to strengthen the participation, inclusion and access of Meranao women in post-conflict Marawi. 

Nationwide

PBHAC Financial Enablers Project

The People-Based Humanitarian Action Consortium project capacitated practitioners, leaders, and the community, and united them towards more effective delivery of humanitarian action. The 18-month project was implemented from 2017 to 2018. PBHAC is composed of CONCERN, Pagkakaisa ng Kababaihan para sa Kalayaan (KAISA KA), and the Action and Solidarity for the Empowerment of Teachers (ASSERT).

PBHAC is one of the projects under the Financial Enablers Project by START Network in the Philippines and facilitated by OXFAM GB.
